I thought they look strange.

I'll talk to Alex as he is in the office.

I talked to Alex. He had thought the photoshop underline was the default. Anyways, we agreed that the browser default underline should be the underline. So don't use the borders for underline.

What about the thread links?  Should they be underlined always or only for hover?

I think it's better to be underlined only on hover. This is more consistent with other links.

We can try browser underline and I'm okay with removing permanent underline from thread links.
