thread page

I looked through the sample forums and I don't like any of the thread page designs.

What I like is something like this https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11089744

No avatars.

No signatures.

Just user names and a link to the profile.

Tree view is useful.

The time "9 hours ago" is also a perm link to the post.

Up vote for quality posts is a plus.

No photos allowed in text posts. (they can be links)

If you like this design, I'll try some function mock.

One more, no pagination. everything goes in one page.

ycombinator looks just like reddit to me.  Do you see any significant difference?  If not, then what you want will be in the reddit theme.  For my theme, I want a flat "classic" thread look.

Yes, they are similar. Actually, I think ycombinator was the original, reddit coped it and made it more features while ycombinator stayed the same.

Reddit seems more feature creep for me but then I don't know maybe those features are what average guys wanted, vs Ycombinator is more the elites wanted.

In any case, I think we should have a reddit theme, that looks exactly the same as the reddit thread.

Question is that do we also want a HN theme? It will be simpler version of the Reddit. Also styled exact the same as HN. Maybe that's after the reddit theme is done.

Yes, we can look after reddit is done.  This would just be a minor variant of the reddit theme.
